As we navigate a pandemic that has affected a number of sectors, it is more important than ever to stand out in your field. Now is the perfect time to update your personal brand in preparation for the new year.
So, how do you go about doing so?
I have outlined three steps to help get the process started.
Step 1: Have a Personal Q&A Session
With the future being uncertain, now is the time to reevaluate what your brand stands for and what you want to achieve. It’s time to go inward and decide whether your values and priorities have changed. What will your chosen industry look like going forward? Perhaps there are new opportunities and markets available for you to explore.
Do these new opportunities still fit in with your brand image, or is it time to make some adjustments?
Once you decide which direction you want to go in, set some new objectives that you can work towards from 2021 onward.
Step 2: Look to the People Who Inspire You
If you will be taking off in a new direction, look to the people who inspire you for ideas and guidance. What is it that makes them successful in their chosen field? Do they have qualities you admire and would like to develop in yourself? Do you want to replicate some of their achievements?
It also helps to look at how they market their personal brands. Are they using tactics that would benefit your brand too?
Using this inspiration, you can start developing your brand image and content.
Step 3: Focus on Your Audience
Even if you decide not to take a different direction with your personal brand, it is still important to tap into your audience. What are their pain points and needs? How do they spend time online? Which brands do they currently follow or resonate with? What was relevant to your target audience last year might have changed over the course of the pandemic. It is important to be aware of these changes.
The more you understand your audience, the easier it is to adapt and update your brand. It will also guide your content creation process and your new image.
If you are serious about upgrading your personal brand, consider getting assistance from a designer and photographer who can help you create an eye-catching image.
