Deciding where you want to shoot is one of the decisions you will need to make when planning your personal branding photoshoot. It doesn’t need to be stressful or complicated though because your home could be just the location you’re looking for.
You don’t need to have a home that’s fitted with designer furniture and beautiful artwork either. Yes, your home should be neat and uncluttered, but it doesn’t need to be straight out of a magazine.
Here are some of the reasons why you should consider using your home as the location for your personal branding session.
- Your home is you. Everything in your home speaks to who you are as a person and if you work from home, it may also speak to who you are as a professional. However, in order for this to work, you need to make sure that your personal style and your brand are not vastly different. You can’t shoot and promote a colorful brand in a home that’s very neutral – it won’t be a good match.
- You feel comfortable. There’s nothing quite like coming home. It’s your space, the space where you relax and feel most at ease. If you are feeling nervous about being in front of a professional camera, shooting at home can ease your nerves and ensure you smile more naturally.
- It highlights your hobbies. When it comes to your personal brand, people want to get to know you as a person, not just what you’re good at as a professional. When you shoot at home, it’s much easier to bring your passions and hobbies into a few of your photos. This will give you a broader range of images to work with that showcase your authenticity.
Now that you know what to consider, it should be a little easier to determine whether your home is the ideal location for your upcoming personal branding session.
